Cardi B Becomes First Female Rapper To Win 3 Diamond Songs
On Monday December 13, The RIAA announced that “I Like It” has officially moved 10 million in the United States. Cardi B just made history as the first female rapper to earn three diamond singles. Following this historic news, the Bronx host took to Instagram to celebrate the news with fans.
“Wow I’m sooo happy!” she captioned the post. “My album came out in 2018 and it’s still breaking records. I have a solo record, a feature record and now ANOTHER record from a collab with 2 people that I look up to and love so much, @jbalvin & @badbunny ”I remember like it was yesterday when this song went #1 and now it’s Diamond. I honestly just can’t believe this is happening! I’m so proud to have two songs off my debut album go Diamond. I hope I can achieve the same or even better on my next one. Thank you everyone that has supported and loved this record.”
Earlier this year, Cardi B became the only female rapper to own a diamond. The hit 2017 hit “Bodak Yellow” sold 10 million units in the United States. Last November, Invasion of Privacy spitter launched Maroon 5 in 2018. His collaboration with “Girls Like You” which sold more than 10 million copies, won a second diamond.
“Wow I got two Diamond records!” Cardi celebrated on Twitter at the time. “Thank you sooo much [Maroon 5] for including me on this song and this is the song I cater to my daughter every time I perform it.”
