Drake and His ‘Certified Lover Boy’ debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 for the Top Level Second Week
The Grammy-winning artist Drake and his sixth studio work has carried an additional 246,000 after opening 613,000 units in its opening week – the best-selling of any album this year.
By the way, Kanye West’s very extravagant album “Donda” takes 2nd place, collecting 79,000 copies. Drake continues his record-breaking run, again dominating the Hot 100 with nine of this week’s top 10 songs.
Drizzy’s most recent studio album topped the Billboard 200 for the second week in a row, earning 236,000 equivalent album units in its second chart high, according to Billboard. Second-week sales figures bring CLB’s total to a total of 849,000 units earned.
On Monday, it was revealed that Drake had released 9 songs from the album in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 – the first time an artist has done so. Before the CLB album came out, only four albums had 7 top 10 tracks; Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814, Bruce Springsteen’s Birth in the USA, and Drizzy’s 2018 effort Scorpion.
“Way 2 Sexy”, featuring Future and Young Thug among the tracks that accelerated the listening, topped the Hot 100 this week and became one of the five songs to hit the top five on the Hot 100. Only the Beatles have accomplished this. This is truly an amazing achievement. Considering that CLB is getting more rest than the Donda frenzy, it’s a tough question if Kanye West still has the euphoria he felt after the first week of sales.
