Kanye West now wants to formalize the name change situation he has been dealing with for years. The crazy rapper has officially filed a petition to change his name from Kanye Omari West to just Ye, according to the Los Angeles Supreme Courts. He said he had personal reasons for the change. These documents, dated August 11, were not sent to the court system until Tuesday.
USA Today reported that it reached out to West’s representatives for more information.
This isn’t the first time this has happened. West had previously tweeted that he changed his name to YE in 2018.

Ye is a nickname that goes back to West’s 2012 single “Clique” with Jay-Z and Big Sean. West also said that he believes this name is the most used word in the Bible and means “you”. And he continued as follows; “So I am you, I am ours, we are us.”
His username appears as Kanye West on his Instagram and Twitter accounts, but he stated his name as Ye.
