Kanye West Wins Platinum for “Hurricane”
Kanye West received his first platinum single from Donda on Tuesday, January 11, thanks to “Hurricane,” with help from The Weeknd and Lil Baby.
Kanye West, who does not end with counting the awards and achievements he has won in his music career, also received the platinum award thanks to Hurricane from his Donda album.
“Hurricane” was originally planned under the title “80 Degrees” for the 2018 Yandhi album, which was shelved, featuring a stark beat and a chorus from crooner Ant Clemons.
Lil Baby was included in the album Donda, which was released in August, with The Weeknd following, after it was announced that he was Kanye West’s favorite rapper. “Hurricane” quickly emerged as the album’s biggest single and peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
He won a gold medal in “Jail” with JAY-Z. Jadakiss from 2012’s Cruel Summer also received a platinum plaque. Other Donda singles “Off the Grid”, “Moon” and “Praise God” reached gold status in November, while the album itself surpassed 500,000 sales.

His old Kanye albums The College Dropout and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy also stand out as their albums that reached huge sales figures.
According to hiphopdx.com, Pusha T’s manager and according to G.O.O.D. Donda 2 is still in the works.

While it was said that this plan would not work at such a critical time, Kanye West’s adviser did not seem too worried about it.
“This is Ye, Ye is going to get there regardless. What are they going to say? He’s going to be a special guest of the Agalarovs,” said Sudan. “Kanye knows what’s going on more than the average human being, he’s well aware of things. And it’s nothing against the United States or to cause conflicts, but Ye is Ye—he can’t be controlled.”
