Lizzo took the stage at Studio 8H in New York City. Both “About Damn Time” and “Special” project Lizzo’s studio LP titled Special will be released on DSPs starting June 15.
The Special will feature a discography that also includes Lizzobangers in 2013, Big Grrrl Small World in 2015, and Cuz I Love You in 2019. As you know, Lizzo released “Rumors” with Cardi B last year. The gold-certified track debuted at number 4 on the Hot 100 chart.
“I think that the music really is going to speak for itself. I’m writing songs about love from every direction, and I hope that I can turn a little bit of the fear that’s been running rampant in this world, energetically into love,” said Lizzo in a New Music Daily interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane lowe.
The Detroit-born rapper continued. “That’s the point. I had a lot of fear, and I had to do the work on myself, and this music is some of that work in turning that fear into love. I hope that when people listen to this album, it makes their day just a little bit better, a little bit more filled with love.”
Lizzo has also appeared in several episodes for the NBC sketch-comedy series. During her SNL monologue, she also talked about her TED talk on the history of twerk and internet rumors.
Lizzo Says She Got Help From Her Friends With Her New Album
While attending “The Late Late Show” with James Corden, Lizzo showed fans a presentation for her upcoming song “About Damn Time”.
James Corden asked Lizzo who she went to to get honest feedback.
“My friends. They’ll tell me. They’ll be like, ‘This ain’t it girl.’ Or once they start twerking, I’m like, ‘This is it,’” she replied. “And then, I play it for my mom. But she is last to hear it because she is a Virgo woman and she’s a harsh critic… but she cried, she loved it.”
