On September 7, 1996, Tupac, Suge Knight and Death Row Records band went to watch the Mike Tyson – Bruce Seldon boxing match at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. Tupac was sitting in the front seat of the BMW 750iL driven by Suge Knight, with a long convoy of friends and bodyguards behind them.
While the vehicle was stopped at a red light 20 minutes before he was hit, a photographer took the famous last photo of Tupac.
At 11:15 PM Suge Knight’s vehicle was stopped at red lights, while a white Cadillac approaching from the right of the vehicle stopped next to Suge and Tupac and was pelted with bullets by an unidentified man in the backseat. Tupac was hit by 4 bullets. One of the bullets hit his right lung. Suge Knight, on the other hand, survived only with a scratch to the head. Tupac was immediately hospitalized.
