Is Travis Scott going back on stage?

Travis Scott will return to the stage at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, it was announced today. The Houston rapper will perform live during Sunday’s show in Las Vegas, marking his first awards show performance since the Astroworld Festival, which culverted to 10 deaths in November.

Travis and HVME’s “Goosebumps” remix was nominated for Top Dance/Electronic Song at this year’s show. In 2019-2020, she became the first artist on the Billboard Hot 100 to debut three songs at Number 1 in less than a year: “Highest in the Room,” “The Scotts” (with Kid Cudi) and “Franchise.”

It’s not yet clear what Travis will do or whether he will release new music from his long-awaited album Utopia. He recently teamed up with Future on Southside’s single “Hold That Heat”, but has not released any solo music since “Mafia” and “Escape Plan” in November.

Over the weekend, Travis performed his first paid concert since Astroworld at Miami nightclub E11EVEN during Race Week. He is also scheduled to perform at the Primavera Sound festivals in South America this November.

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards, hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs, .m live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 15 at 8 p.m. ET. Other artists include Silk Sonic, Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy, Latto, Maxwell, Megan Thee Stallion and Mary J. Blige, who will receive the Billboard Icon Award.

Travis Scott Performs in Public for First Time Since Astroworld Festival Tragedy

Technically, the performance – as has been widely reported since it was announced last month – was Scott’s first public performance since the deadly crowd crush at the Astroworld Festival in Houston last year. Scott performed for about 45 minutes in total, according to a TMZ report that included footage of his Saturday night performance at Miami’s E11EVEN nightclub.

At one point during the performance, which TMZ reported began shortly after 3.m local time, Scott was joined by Quavo in front of the crowd. See highlights from the night performance below.
